2/3 cup butter or margarine
1 pound brown sugar
3 eggs
2 2/3 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts
Melt margarine, pour in mixing bowl and add brown sugar. Mix, then add eggs, beating them in one at a time. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Add to mixture. Stir in vanilla, nuts and chocolate chips. Bake at 350 degrees in a 13 x 9 x 2" pan for 25 to 30 minutes.

1/2 cup shortening or butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice or the following:
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup canned or cooked pumpkin
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate morsels
3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
Glaze
1/2 cup sifted confectioner's sugar
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1 to 2 tablespoons cream
Grease bottom of a 9x5x3" pan. Combine flour with soda, salt and spices. Cream butter in large mixing bowl. Gradually add sugar, and cream at high speed until light and fluffy. Blend in eggs and beat well. At low speed add dry ingredients alternately with pumpkin. Begin and end with dry ingredients. Stir in chocolate morsels and nuts. Pour in pan and bake at 350 degrees for 65 to 75 minutes. Let stand. Mix first three glaze ingredients together and add cream. Drizzle glaze over cooled cake.
